3 Stories about Maia
#1: Colors and Food (2 very important things to an almost 2 year old)
Maia
was ready for a snack the other day, so I asked her if she wanted an
apple. Midsentence, I remembered I had an orange cut from earlier. Our
conversation went like this:
S – do you want some apple?
M- apple!
S – oh wait… do you want some orange?
M – no blue
#2: Walk Away
For
some reason, Maia learned the phrase “walk away” at daycare. So she
periodically says it when she isn’t happy about something. For
instance, l might be putting her shoes on against her will and she’ll
say “no mama, walk away.”
A couple days ago I was changing her
diaper, and she knows she’s supposed to keep her hands out during that
process. Yet she’s still tempted, so this time, as her hand slowly
wandered toward her diaper, she calmly told it “walk away hand.”
#3: Kiss It
We’ve
never shied away from giving Maia spicy foods, and she has generally
liked almost everything she’s been given. Occasionally, she has even
cast away some tears and continued to plow through whatever spicy food
she had on her plate. Tonight though, the spicy pain overcame her.
She stuck out her tongue to me and said, “kiss it!”
