Teddy Treats – another funny Maia story …
Maia has been given great wooden food toys – fruits and veggies, a tray of cookies, complete sets with knives, spatulas, cutting board, etc. She loves them and plays with them every day. The first set was a pizza with various toppings that she could create and then use a pizza cutter to cut and serve. When she was bored of pizza, she’d make soup with the toppings.
After Tarek was born, she’d occasionally watch the Food Network with me while I was feeding him. Her food play became much more sophisticated. I heard her say things like “half a cup of sugar” or “half a cup of baking soda.” (yikes)
Yesterday she took it to a new level. She was walking around the room looking for her knife, saying, “I have to cut this meat.” She was carrying this …
Though apparently she isn’t inclined toward vegetarianism, at least we know she has a good understanding of where our food comes from.
