Pulling weeds

We were pulling weeds out of the cracks in the driveway – it is a little tough on the fingers.

M: I can’t pull the weeds because it hurts my fingers. Does it hurt your fingers?
S: A little, but it’s making them stronger. Sometimes we do hard things because it makes us stronger.

She pulls a weed …

M: I pulled a weed and I’m getting stronger.
S: yeah … ?
M: as she’s pulling another weed and grunting … yeah, really tall.
